Light is one of our most
versatile, classy themes to date. It is good for just
about any site you can think up, whether that be a blog,
a family homepage, a photography portfolio or even a
small business.
Overview
Here is a quick look at some of the variations provided in this theme:
• 3 sidebar variations - off, right, or on the top, using an animated collapsable option
• 22 header choices, many that use stylish, tiling graphics
• 4 different font size options
• The ability to choose between serif and sans serif font styles
• 11 menu style variations - many that match the 22 different header variations
• 5 link color variations
• The ability to hide the blog categories and archives via the variations pane
Sidebar
Light offers a versitile and unique side bar. You may either place it on the right-hand side, a popular choice in today's web design, or even at the top of the site. The top sidebar option offers a very cool collapsable option. Click a tab and the sidebar opens up, as if out of nowhere, displaying your sidebar content. This appearing, disappearing sidebar that unfurls at the click of a button to display your content is very slick and very Web 2.0.
We've animated this sidebar and made it collapsable through the use of Mad4Milk's moo.fx Javascript. Have a look here at a live preview page to see this option at work.
Note: For the sidebar to work properly, you will need to specify a sidebar title in the Page Inspector under the Sidebar tab.
Fonts
To help you set the tone of your site, we have included 4 font size variations — medium (default), small, large and extra large. We've also provided you the option of choosing between a san serif and a serif font style.
Menu and link styling
Color coordinating is important when it comes to making a cohesive site. We've created 11 different menu stylings to help you match our great-looking, simple menus with a plethora of headers we've included in Light. We have also created 5 variations to help match your links to the rest of your site.
Site logo
In an effort to keep things clean and simple, it resides at
the top of the right-hand sidebar. This allows
you to brand your site with a logo if you like, while
keeping your site tidy. If you'd like to use the gray
background of the sidebar behind your logo graphic,
the web hex code for the background color is
#f4f4f4. We suggest your logo be no
bigger than 150px by 150px.
Width
Light is a combination of both fixed width and
variable width. The menu and content sections of the
theme are a set width, while the header area and
footer stretch to fit the width of the theme. Light
does this through tiled graphics. The footer also
stays locked to the bottom of the browser in all
modern browsers. The only browser not supporting this
cool feature is Internet Explorer 6, but it's handled
perfectly well with Microsoft's new IE 7. In IE 6,
the footer acts just as any other footer would and is
at the bottom of the site's content.

Upgrades
Light has been updated to work with RapidWeaver 3.6, adding new goodies that the RW upgrade provides. Some of the additions include tag clouds, EXIF tags for photo pages, permalink blog titles and more.
In the process of adding support for RapidWeaver 3.6 to Dark we have included a set of built-in library items for YourHead's Blocks 3.0 and style sheets for Loghound's RapidBlog.
See some of what is new in RapidWeaver 3.6 some of which you can expect to see in Light.
